The research excellence of the NCCR Chemical Biology has enabled us to have a successful record in launching spin-out companies.

The NCCR Chemical Biology works in close collaboration with the technology transfer offices at Geneva (UNITEC) and EPFL (TTO EPFL). Their mission is to manage the intellectual property resulting from research, evaluate new inventions, negotiate and approve research contracts with industrial partners, license technology and support start-up creation. Additionally, start-ups and researchers are supported in their first steps as entrepreneurs by many organisations.

Lucentix

Lucentix develops a new biosensor technology that allows patients to measure precise concentrations of analytes in a single drop of blood or saliva using a low-cost handheld device giving laboratory-quality results. Lucentix received CHF 130’000, the maximum funding granted by Venture Kick, the Swiss leading financing platform

Intrace medical

Develops and commercializes bioluminescent and near infrared fluorescent molecular imaging probes for in vitro and in vivo use.

Quartet Medicine

Dedicated to produce new compounds to treat chronic pain and inflammation with a focus on controlling BH4 levels. One of the Top Academic Start-ups of 2014. In 2015, Quartet Medicine successfully completed a $23 million dollar A-series financing, among which investors are Atlas Venture, Novartis Venture Fund and Pfizer.
