NCCR Chemical Biology retreat 2016

DSC_3105

Our annual retreat will take place from June 13th to June 15th 2016 at the Eurotel Victoria in Villars-sur-Ollon (VD). All personnel working on an NCCR project are expected to be present for the whole duration; people working in an NCCR lab are welcome (subject to space availability).

Programme

There will be one scientific session per interdisciplinary project chaired by the project leaders (6 in total), two poster sessions and a strategy session. We have invited external speakers: Prof. Matthias P. Waymann (Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel) and Dr. Andrey Klymchenko (Lab. of Biophotonics and Pharmacology, University of Strasbourg). Furthermore, the CTI Entrepreneurship – the Swiss federal training programme for startup founders – will give a talk about entrepreneurship perspectives and how you can be coached.

2016 retreat edition will also include a Best poster Awards session. A scientific committee composed of three NCCR members (Prof. Suliana Manley, Prof. Stefan Matile and Prof. Aurélien Roux) will select three best posters. As a prize, the NCCR Chemical Biology will offer to the winners the registration and accomodation fees to attend any scientific meeting of their choice! Announcement of the winners will be done during the Concluding Remarks Session on Wednesday 15.

The social events planned this time include a Theme Hiking and an outdoor apero as part of our team-building activities. The latter will be orchestrated by professional guides specialised in the fauna and flora of the area. We really look forward to it. Please beware once you arrive at Villars to sign-up before 5 pm for the team-building event that take place the day after.

Don’t forget to bring along proper walking shoes, a warm jacket, a rain jacket, a water flask, a hat, sunglasses and sun protection cream! Walking sticks are optional.

The retreat will start on Monday June 13th at 13:00 (arrival and sign-in) until Wednesday June 15th at 15:00.
